Has anyone got a Nokia N96?

If so, what is the battery life like?

Mr Darkhorse is due a phone upgrade this month and he can’t decide which phone to get, and because his last phone had a crap battery life he is being a bit more cautious this time.

His other choices are:
T-Mobile G1
Nokia N95 8GB
Samsung Pixon
Sony Ericsson C905
Samsung Soul
Nokia E71
BlackBerry Curve 8900
Samsung Tocco
BlackBerry Bold
BlackBerry Pearl 8110
T-Mobile MDA Compact IV

(and a load of other crap ones that he’s not really all that interested in)

I have an MDA Vario (2 years old t-mobile) and it hasn't missed a beat. I recharge it probably about once a fortnight, but then I don't really make lots of calls on it. But I do quite often check stuff on t'interweb which can suck down quite a bit of juice. Still has a a good battery life tho.

The battery life refers to continuous talk time on default settings but at maximum volume. The tests were capped at 10 hours.

I have a Sony Ericsson. I send texts on it and call people and it takes pictures. The battery lasts three days or so I think.

Other than that I have no idea.

Oh, it's purple. Which is nice Very Happy

I have a N96.

The built in TV receiver doesn't work (if you do an update it removes the TV option from the phone altogether, so I guess it never will).
It works REALLY slowly, for example, when you try and read a message the screen goes blank for about 5 seconds before it finally displays anything.

It also crashes sometimes when you get an incoming call before it actually makes a sound so unless you keep checking it, you don't notice that it has frozen.

Finally, it tends to reset quite often to.

Apart from that though, great phone Confused , it looks pretty, and the video quality is excellent.

Getting to the point, the battery life isn't great, I have to charge mine every other day, but don't use it much, so if you use it for more than a couple of calls (to the Samaritans in my case) in a day, then I'd be tempted to buy another phone.....

Goodness gracious me, Mr Bones (licks her lips )..... he doesnt want to *buy* a phone, he wants one of the ones on the T Mobile site for his free upgrade. I know he is particularly keen to have one with a decent battery life, as the last phone he got was what he called 'shit' (in fact it is a Motorola Razr2 V8 - he has hardly used that one, he went and bought another second hand phone with a better baterry life). I don't think he actually needs another phone, he quite likes his old second hand Motorola KRAZR, I think he just wants his moneys worth from renewing his contract
