Let's test the thread starter out then... just to see:

1. A female patient is in receipt of 1.0L of N/Saline via a rapid infusion cannula due to an external bleed which has only just stopped.

2. The bleed has caused her Haemoglobyn (Hb) to drop from 112g/L to 97g/L over a 3.5 hour period. RBC and Haematocrit have also dropped proportionally, and also CRP (which was resolving) - but WBC count remains high (MRSA septicaemia patient by the way - 4 days into treatment with 750mg/L Vancomycin IV).

3. As the person is also on 75mg of Aspirin daily and a daily stomach jab of Heparin (Aspirin now witheld due to the bleed), and the volume of blood loss has been unquantified -

Q. What is the rough estimate of the actual true volume of blood loss experienced - based on the drop in Hb and surrounding treatment as outlined?

Gotta love the fella's on here to make you smile at every occassion Smile

I guess my response would be, if I was dating someone with medical issues, it would depend on the severity.
If we are talking 'hiv, ongoing, life threatening, genetical, or huge impact on daily life, then yes As soon as, not trusting someone with that, is not a good sign. No denial is not a good look.

By the same measure, if it something, you consider important, even if the other person might not, then yes get it out in the open.

If it is simply a case, of x amount of years ago I had ...... because of y, and this will effect z, then until z becomes a discussion I wouldnt worry about y. In english, when I was preggers, I had pre eclamps' it did some damage, I am monitored yes, however unless I become preggers it wont be an issue. This discussion would only arise if we were to discuss children.

I am diabetic, so that one usually comes up fairly quickly, because if I am feeling off, it would probably be better if someone I was spending time with new about it. That and I dont want someone thinking I am a pill junkie Wink

Hope that helps kinda, I know what I mean Smile

I read the other day of a person complaining of a lump in their abdomen - who also had had surgery around 50 years ago whilst in the Vietnam conflict. When opened up, they found a Zippo lighter in there, that the surgeon had dropped in whilst doing the prior Op in the field. Nothing changes does it.

I like Shystef have a medical condition and do tell people about it streight away. I am Epileptic and if a guy can't deal with it then he better not date me. I did meet a guy who once in my 20's could not take the truth and told me to stop taking my meds and I told him what you see is what you get and if I stopped taking my meds I would have seizers and recovery time sucks.
So people who want to date me need to know it's like baggage you didn't ask for at birth or get from bieng in a care accident a really bad one.
In cy case I was born this way.

I would want to know about medical conditions and if I had one that would affect me socially then I would have to say right off! I don't want to know to be nosy, but I would want to be as helpful as possible.

I used to be Epileptic, It was discovered when i was a toddler but then i was extremly lucky and grew out of it when i was around 16...

I have other medical issues though and i dont say it straight away when i meet someone, it really depends on the feeling I get, with my x i told him pretty early on cause i didnt want my heart broken if he couldnt deal with it, then it was better to tell before i fell to much inlove with him....

so I guess i its not first date stuff, but i wouldnt wait several months either.... ( I couldnt hide that long either even if I wanted too, lol)

Hey Gang and Jeanette,
I knew a girl who had the same condition as you and I and she did also out grow her Epilepsy as well by the time she was 8 years old.
I wish that had happened to me however when I was invetro I had not gotten oxegen to my brain for about 4 minutes so hense the seizer disorder.
But that went dorment till I turned the age of 4 years old and have had it since but I am glad to say I have not had a siezer since Labor Day in 1986
so that is what 25 years with out seizer?
So what ever I am doing other than taking my meds and the correct doses of them I am doing right.

What about the poor guy who went for a vasectomy? The surgeon was so drunk from the night before, he accidentally slit one of the guy's nuts and they had to remove it and bin it. All they could find to replace it with at the time, was a pickled onion from the surgeon's sandwich box. So, they put it in, and stiched his ball-bag back up! Three months later, when the guy came in for review, the surgeon asked him how he was doing. The guy said he was feeling brilliant, except for one peculiar thing which he couldn't explain. It being: that every single time he walked past a sandwich or hamburger outlet, he gained an immediate, throbbing erection!
