believe me, faced with one's reflection your eyes are gonna spot every 'imperfection', which may otherwise be invisable (or not that big a deal) to others.
don't sweat it. as said above, they're there to keep your lovely eyeballs nice and snug.

It's to stop the sweat from dripping into your eyes. There's nothing worse than having a guy working away on top of you and his sweat dripping into your eyeballs!!
