Tell yourself that there are plenty of other jobs you can apply for and this interview is a trial run. Just relax yourself by taking off the pressure. That's what I do for this sort of thing

Think of it as if you are having a conversation with them.

Interviews may be portrayed as interrogations, but they are actually just as much an opportunity for you to decide if the company is right for you as well as them seeing if you are right for their company.

Go over in your head or on paper all the things you think they might ask you, try and think of the unusual things as well so you don't get caught out and flustered. Don't feel embarrassed if you have to stop and think during the interview. It's only human.

When I'm waiting to do something that I'm worried about I do breathing exercises. Long deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth. This is also the most efficient way to get oxygen into your body and will help you to think more clearly.

I think I was always more nervous giving an interview than actually going for an interview myself, but here's some thoughts.

Try to arrive a little earlier than the interview time, so you've got time to go to the loo. Just tidy up your appearance if you've been hit by the elements, and make sure you wear a smile when you're called into the interview room. Try to give eye contact to each member of the panel so you can be seen to be warm and friendly.

Have the mind set that you're the best applicant for the job, and with the job specification in mind try to make them realise that too.

It's okay, to spend a little time in thought before you answer their questions, but try to ensure that you DO actually answer what you are being asked. So many people in interviews say a lot, but don't give the answer the panel are waiting to hear.

Oh and don't forget all the 'politically correct' questions, equal ops, data protection, health and safety and it's usually a good idea to have one or two questions to ask the panel too.

Anyway Hannah, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you, hope all goes well and that you're successful. Good luck.

When asked if you have any questions that you want to ask, ask them what made them choose you to come to interview over some of the other applicants....always a good one....they usually get stuck on that Very Happy

If you're scared of talking in front of people, try imagining how they'd look naked ... it's a great leveller and an old public speaking trick.

Another trick is to think about how you would talk to the interviewers if they were asking you for directions and respond in the same manner.

Arrive ahead of time, dress formally, be polite.

If you start to stutter, make a short apology and use that time to compose yourself and carry on.

Read up about the company you're going to be interviewed by, just in case they ask you what you know about them. Be prepared to talk about anything that you mentioned on your CV or application form.

Be prepared for questions about things like "what is your biggest weakness" that are designed to make you think on your feet and see how honest you are.

From what you said, preparing for "why have you been doing a lot of temp work" would make sense.

As the thespians would say ... "break a leg"!

1 piece of advice...turn your mobile phone off.

Mine went off in my interview, and I was conviced it had cost me.

And good luck x

I offered interview advice on a previous thread.
You need to prepare well in advance.
This is what I have done in the past.

Apply for any job and lots of them, that you have no intention of taking.
This takes the pressure off you whilst gaining interview experience.
When the job comes along you want it is more of a breeze.
