I used to reply to any message that wasnt outright offensive. But some men dont want you to chat with them unless you're actually interested in meeting them, and they get cross that you've wasted their time.

So you're left with saying 'thanks but no thanks'.... and some men get cross at that and want you to detail exactly why you dont think you're a match.

There's no winning really. And women get it too, I promise you. I've messaged plenty of people, got nothing back and ended up sending 'you ignorant bastard' messages!

We all just want people that dont want us.

Thats nice and positive isnt it!

A lot of people don’t respond to messages for the same reason that I no longer respond.

I used to send a polite ‘not interested’ message back, but this invariably opened the door to ongoing dialogue (e.g. “why not”) with someone that I had absolutely nothing in common with, no interest in, etc.

I just found that the best way to avoid such pointless exchanges of messages (more often than not ending with one person getting the hump and saying “Your loss” – or worse!) by simply not responding in the first place.

So, I’m rude? I don’t give a shit. If I get junk mail through my letter box I bin it, why not ditto with electronic mail?

amen darkhorse... and if people get arsey with the fact you don't want to speak or don't respond.. it is usually an indication of their mental status lol

I'd always reply, even if it's just to say you're not my type.

The only time I don't reply is when I get the obvious scams telling me they have loads of money that they need someone to help them cash in. Any emails that begin with "You don't know me but..." get binned immediately.

I would appreciate some sort of response, even something as blunt as "You're now on my block list, jerk!" is better than nothing at all. I don't particularly care if it's a negative response, not only does it tell me where I stand but helps me work on my approach by telling me what method doesn't work.

Also, I find that there are a lot of profiles on here from people who have created a profile and never logged in since, some as long as a year or more ago. I feel that a 3 month rule would be reasonable for removing them, over 3 months without a login and your profile is considered inactive.
