OK, I don't think it looks nice either, but each to their own.. I think stating that it doesn't look nice is an exceptionally bold statement. In your opinion it doesn't look nice, granted, but to the people that have it done it obviously does.

If the people that do it think it looks nice, is it really any different to expressing yourself via your choice of clothing?

I think piercings are fine for those who like having them and can look quite nice. I personally don't even have my ears pierced but it's all about individual preference, isn't it?

I don't think having pierced ears is vastly different from a nose, lip or eyebrow piercing, it's just a different facial feature. I think it's purely because having pierced ears is seen as more socially acceptable in our society than other kinds of facial adornment that more people have it done.

In many tribal societies, it's probably more unusual for people not to have facial piercings and it often has cultural or spiritual implications. In an area of India, men and women wear nose rings to indicate their marital status - it's certainly a lot more noticable than a wedding ring!

i'll be useful and provide some clarification on that point, only the women wear the nose ring. guys still wear the engagement ring on fingers.

on the positive side, a guy sleeping with someone's wife can never say he didnt see the ring Laughing

Embarassed Oops, that'll teach me to blindly believe everything my friends tell me! Sorry for the misinformation.

Maybe we should introduce this custom here but I think men should wear them too. Laughing

I think piercings are great! Some people take it too far but that's their choice. I have had my nose pierced, but I grew out of that about 8 years ago. Got sick to death of scrabbling around my bed and pillows looking for the missing stud and also trying to put it back in my nose, half asleep. I now have just a tongue and belly piercing, although I rarely have the tongue stud in these days.... as I have discovered that the tongue is easy to re-pierce as and when the need arises. Personally, I love the way piercings look, they give your body an added sparkle to wherever needed.

Umm, my *first* paragraph I wrote "It makes me feel ill" and "I dont even think it looks nice" ---- so just out of curiousity kebabman --- why have you chosen to pull me up just cuz I forgot to *own* that last statement?

I'm not overly bothered by piercings etc.

It's just the mindset that I can't understand. Here we are in the 21stC (at the very peak of technological advancement), and still there are people who crave self-mutilation - whats all that about?

tim (who's too old for his opinion to matter anymore)

There's a famous story during the war when a runner was sent with the message "Send re-inforcements, we are going to advance" and the general at the receiving end eventually got the message "Send three and fourp'nce, we are going to a dance".

Sorry, off topic.

Well back on topic then, i personally dont find piercing's attractive on guys, but each to there own, i do have a thing for tattoo's though, not over the top just a couple of good ones, had couple of small ones done myself recently and can understand why people say they are addictive ............ x

I've had my nose 'done' since i was 18....so over ten years now....and i still love love love it I wear a nice little half moon silver stud which i think is cute and have never ever had anyone tell me it isn't! i've also got a few piercings in each ear

Piercings aren't as permanant as tattoo's u can take them out they are unnoticable leave the jewelry out and they will heal up.....

Everyone has their own personal preferences .....i think eyebrow piercings only suit a select few.......but thats just my view

I've thought about getting my tounge done.....but i hear its not very good for your teeth...( plus i dont need the extra 'help') Twisted Evil

Why do you care so much about what other people choose to do to their own bodies?.....Each to their own and all that

The world would be a very boring place if we all looked the same!

Yes, because men are going to ruin their chances with the beautiful girl by telling her that something she has done is not good

one or two piercings don't bother me, but they can be overdone. I think they can look good on some women.
