What happened? I'm guessing you didn't get back together or it's still a bit of a mess? In my experience, if you have to look to other people to help your relationship something is wrong. It seems like he might be a bit immature if he doesn't even want to communicate with you when you just need some reassurance and at the same time, it doesn't seem that you fully trust him (and rightfully so...there is a reason for mistrust and paranoia) if you're seriously considering that he may have cheated on you. Does he really see this relationship as serious? do you? unfortunatley, immature is what immature does and there is not much you can do (in my opinion) to change that, except to move onwards, upwards and enjoy life...! x
