Here, using the forums is a good start. There's a thread for introducing yourself and you can look through the topics to follow interests, have light hearted fun, get advice on problems you're experiencing using the site and getting to know other people using the forums. Good you've got a nice clear photo and you will find it worthwhile filling out your profile or at least some of the questions. There are threads here where people have discussed what they think works or not so may be reading some of the forum posts.
May be the main thing for a guy on here to remember is that there are a few guys for each woman so you need to make your message stand out as different not just 'hi how are you?' I answer all my mail, but many of the popular girls say they only answer the ones they're interested in as they get too many.

You might want to stick your pic onto your forum pic too.
