from a quick browse over this section of the forums, i have come to the conclusion that a small piece of advice needs to be issued. I realise people will have allready advised people in a similar if not exacting way but here goes.

there is no way to impress women or men, there is no type of clothing that will 'get you laid' etc, etc. think about your problems before you post them all over the place. Surely with a bit of common sense you can see that this type of thing is not the problem.

rule of life 1: people are attracted to who they are attracted to, no amount of hollywood style tactics to win people over will work, essentially if you assume you can use a certain tactic to win somebody over, you are basically trying to trick someone into liking you. this is standard practise for short lived relationships (or 1 night stands) but is not practical in REAL LIFE.

rule of life 2: no, infact, does actually mean no. people seem to be going for the same person time after time after time, just because you feel lucky or different on a certain night, doesn't mean they will too. anomalies can happen (again, mainly 1 night stands) but this is rare and unfulfilling.

rule of life 3: being pathetic... is pathetic. whining on for hours about failed romances in the past is helpful for relieving stress, tension and is very good therapy. but surely, you have to realise, this is not an attractive trait. confidence but not arrogance, communication over diffuseness (is that a word? i hope so x), empathy rather than sympathy. these are just a few examples but you see the picture.

rule of life 4: being someone your not makes your whole life fall apart. lie once to a prospective new partner and they will keep coming, each lie more severe than the last. try lying to your friends and family for a taste of how bad this will feel anyway. well, unless your lying to your m8s about landing on the moon or something, if you can convince people you've landed on the moon, you're set in life anyway...

well im waffling now, questions?

S.J.

This isnt real life its the net, and a lot of questions here refer to attracting people on the net. In real life what you see is what you get, but when trying to attract people on the net, rules have to be followed e.g nice picture [doesnt always have to be realistic pics, arty farty ones go down well with some women], bullshit on your profile, have to be over humorous. Rules probably dont have to be followed so much in real life, because what you see is what you get and there can be an instant attraction.

A lot of men do have net persona's that are a bit false in varying degrees. This is often found out in real life, I've met plenty. But seems to me it is almost demanded on the net, unfortunately.

wow, i appear to have caused a feud, i'd say their are many parallels between stuff on the net and real life, but everything applies both ways, and if people are lying on the net, ull soon find out in real life anyway so there's not much to distinguish between.

the only difference is deceptive photos and having time to think about answers before saying them, which can also be deceptive. aside from that, id say i behave on the net as i would in real life except im talking to people i don't know and so obviously i don't care about responses as much as in real life.

but is sitting down and physically typing not part of real life? is everything on the web fantasy? i think not, these electrical signals being flown around the world are just a living metaphor for our own brains... kinda. wow, the world as a massive brain, i like it, i should write a book...

waffling agen,

S.J.

Not waffle, I think your right there, art imitates life, not the other way around. The net is just like a brain, lots of connections and signals sent along them. Creativity is the non sexual expression of reproduction through art, invention and ideas.

We have or we could invent a machine which imitates or works on the same principals as almost any natural bodily function. It's no coincidence that people call their projects their "baby" because creativity is reproduction of nature and life.

But i no longer see what that has to do with somebody being themselves on the internet Laughing

soatom i think you should be a relationship adviser as you seem to have good common sense, my philosophy is that in life not everybody is going to like me, thats life and its ok, but there are a lot who do like me so i focus on those and i agree with what you say about 'whining on', i notice a lot of it on here and sometimes inappropriate self disclosure, people need to accept crap things happen - deal with it, get over it and move on to make the most of life, life is far too short to spend it harping on about negative things
