Well, I guess you are more likely to get more sympathy if you get accosted by a date off flirtbox, than if you get accosted by a 'client' from the escort agency you were on a job with....

Not saying *I* think that way, just that I am aware that despite this so-called enlightened age, most people still have a bit of Judge Pickles in them...

Clients of an escort agency are often regulars and quite well known by the agency, and even sometimes vetted. I would say that working for an escort agency is probably a safer than street prostitution, although I suppose if one was to be less diplomatic one could say that the agency plays the role of a street prostitutes pimp? ‘Escorts’ for such agencies are often women (and men, I hasten to add!) who have a proven track record in prostitution (e.g. known to be able to command a good price), and have additional well-honed social skills to enable them to adapt to their surroundings when they are taken to various functions and social events, in the role of an escort.

There are indeed also more ‘traditional’ social escort services, where sex is not expected or demanded, where people who need a suitable ‘date’ for a particular event might select an appropriate escort to suit their needs, often from a selection of well-educated or well-connected choices (one hears, often even titled!).

I disagree with this point - sex between (or amongst) those who frequent a dating site like Flirtbox is by mutual consent, not a commodity that is bought and sold. Although obviously sex is bought and sold, of course. Supply and demand, and all that.

I didnt think you were being provocative Sue I dont suppose any of us on here have terribly informed opinions on this subject, other than what one has gleaned from a website, or friends of friends of friends.....
In late '70s my mum did a bit of escort work - it was a very posh "known to be above board" one - the way it worked then was that if your client got a bit tiddly and/or aggressive/too suggestive you reported him to the agency and he got taken off the client list......but, having said that, she was told that if the guy wanted 'something extra' and she was willing, whatever price she and he agreed on went straight in her pocket undivulged....she only had 2 clients and gave up because both men 'wanted more' and assumed it was part of the service, so she gave up as she didnt like how it made her feel.
A few years back, there was a website that stated it was the "only escort agency" in the uk that DID NOT OFFER SEX.....I guess times are a-changing...one day maybe it will be a the kind of job you will see advertised in the jobcenter.

Sorry Sue, I hope you didn't think think that I thought you were being provocative either!

I think I should add (just for the record) that my opinions (if one can call them that) on topics such as this are based on first hand experience, from when I worked in the more general porn industry - one meets people from all aspects of the, erm, entertainment world on a social level in a job like that, and picks up quite a lot of useful information

/* I hasten to add that I worked in the porn industry in a creative role */

I bow to Rocketgirl’s superior knowledge of the Debbie Does series.

Oh dear ..... now Miss No Pants wants to know what I did in the porn industry. I knew it was a bad idea to introduce her to the forum .....

But I was a mere pencil doodler for a chain of German porn magazines (you know those smutty cartoons that adorn the pages?). Oh, and advertisement design. I got to spend a lot of time on some of the sets on the third floor though (for inspiration for the cartoons, of course - and you’d be surprised what one can do with a corn cob!!).

Now that is a challenge if there ever was one. Tell all and we'll see who is surprised first.

Debbie did a series? Where? When? Heck, what have I missed?

And...how did you manage to doodle naughty cartoons using a corn cob? I would have thought it would be easier to use a pencil....

Oooh, stop talking about pencils, I’m getting turned on! Staedtler Mars Lumograph …… hm hmmmm ….. (actually, I used ink for the cartoons; pencils and graphite sticks purely for personal delights – although a recent private viewing of the remnants of my pencil work in a tattered black portfolio was met with some disinterest).
