So what are the best places to meet people? Obviously pubs, clubs etc but if that's not your scene? Supermarkets are a possible....look in the trolley and see if they are buying for one, or a family! There's always 'join a club', but if you haven't got an interest in e.g. Archery, or Salsa Dancing, then that might not work out.
Any ideas?

Try a coffee shop, bring a book, look intellectual, and do a bit of people watching at the same time... Never know?

I prefer coffee shops to bars, but so much more of a challenge to meet people in a coffee shop... :S

i used to have a few mates work in pubs and bars and i used to pop in there during the day and sit by the bar reading a mag or newspaper and used to meet some really nice people..
i used to have a good laugh, cos i wasnt drinking and the place was nice and quiet

Just start a conversation 'bloody DSS' and you're right in

I don't like 'going out on the pull', hitting bars and clubs. Just personally, I don't think going out and getting drunk before throwing a line at somebody is the right way to start a relationship.

I go to my local fave coffee shop to study. Love the atmosphere, but never been chatted up. Maybe I look too interested in my books?!

haha, that'd be one of the last places in the world I would ever want to try and pull someone! Those places just bring me down, I'm so glad I've not seen the inside of one regularly in quite a while. I went in to one a few weeks back when I thought I might not be working for a bit ... but luckily later that day I got a call

the best places to meet people are at places where there will be people enjoying the same things you enjoy. i.e if your into pottery, you enrol on a pottery class. at least then you would have a starting topic of convo and share at least one common interest.

Absolutely. I got chatted up a couple of times at bus stops by women. That was years ago, though. They were brave enough, and pretty, so it worked. I also chatted up a lady who was doing this survey thing in the street, which was *really* brave for me. None of those worked out well, but it was all good fun and nice stories to tell.

I'm a total wuss, though, I have been chatted up in random places FAR more than I have *ever* initiated. Come to think of it, I've only done it once.
