Today I received the worst news Sad .
My ex rang me and told me my dog got run over and it was touch and go about her being put down Crying or Very sad
I feel like I will never crack another (unfunny) joke again.....
I love my dog (like a child), and my ex knows it, and after spending what seems like forever in tears of the thought of never seeing her again (my dog), she has just rang me back to tell me that she was just lying, because she wanted me to start speaking to her again.

Now. she knows how much I adore the dog, and I can't understand why someone would want to do something like that to ANYONE, let alone me.

So my question is WHY WHY WHY.... would someone want to do something like that to someone they supposedly care about????????? Crying or Very sad

Mega, that is awful Sad I really don't understand why someone would do something like that. She must have been feeling desperate because if not then that is just cold hearted.

Try and look on the bright side that your dog is ok

Thanks mate, I am feeling a bit better, but still have that depressing feeling lodged deep in my brain, I think that's gonna linger a little Sad

Im sorry to hear that Megs. It was a kind of low way to get your attention.

It would have been a horrible shock and you're bound to feel bad about it for a while. As I said, there is 1 upside for you to hang on to and thats probably the best you can do for now.

I don't know if it would do any good, only you can judge this, but once you feel less emotional about it maybe you need to confront her about it. She's either desperate and is seeking attention, which needs addressing or there will be a next time. Or she is just being plain sick, which I think would justify you letting rip at her. I'd wait until you feel less emotional and angry if you do feel you need to have it out with her.

Hang in there. the gang will be on in a bit and make you smile

OMG! That is sick, how could anyone do that? how horrible for you, I know she might have been desperate for you to talk to her but I could think of more ways than telling you a sick thing like that Sad

Is she all there? & does she really think after this stunt you would want to have anything more to do with her Confused

my ex does'nt talk to me but I could never make up stuff like that just so that he would. Confused

No wonder you are not with her anymore if she does stuff like that, like Sailor says, at least your dog is ok, thats the important thing Smile

I would be gutted if anything else happened to my dog (most of you know she lost a leg a few months ago). Fortunately Pebbles is with me most of the time, so the situation where someone plays a trick on me like that isn’t likely to happen, but if it did happen (i.e. when someone I know takes her with them to Dartmoor, or for a walk on the coast path) I’d probably never speak to them to again……I’ve stopped speaking to people for a lot less than that (and put my fist on the end of someone’s nose for less than that too )

Not that I'm suggesting that you swing a punch at your ex's nose of course - that would be most ungentlemanly of us both (me to suggest it, and you to do it).

Sadly, some people use someone elses fondness of pets as a weapon in the same way that they'd use other emotional blackmail; not a very nice trait, is my opinion.

I believe that this might be inappropriate punishment for such behaviour.

According to my manual (Darkhorse's Dirty Deeds & Dastardly Disgraces, Volume II, pocket edition, £4.99 - don't expect the penny change if you send a fiver), the correct punishment for such a deed is to be stripped naked and hung by the nipples from a lamp post at the mini-roundabout at the intersection of Church and Commercial Streets and thrashed soundly with a wee soaked boot lace, and then left dangling at a suitable height for passing dogs, waifs and strays to urinate upon. In extreme cases of mental cruelty, the victim may also elect to hogtie the abuser naked over a fire hydrant outside a pub of their choice, with their rear end at a height suitable for drunken Friday night revellers to take advantage of.
